Brother Tomoiaga was used by the Lord in a mighty way at a crucial time in the history of the SDA Reform Movement in Romania. He served as Secretary of the SDARM Romanian Union while the entire nation was still operating under severely oppressive restrictions, and then as President—an undershepherd of the Lord’s flock for multiple terms of office after religious freedom was graciously restored in 1990. He served on the SDARM General Conference Doctrinal Council and as a General Conference delegate at multiple sessions.
A strong spiritual leader gifted also with administrative, organizational, and business acuity, Bro. Tomoiaga was instrumental in wisely acquiring several properties for the church in Romania exactly at the hour needed, including investing in the Union headquarters and missionary training facility in Fagaras, the Eden Foundation sanitarium in Breaza, and more. Under his leadership, when freedom came, the Romanian brethren diligently focused on three areas for the expansion of the message of reformation—the building of chapels, the publishing work, and missionary training. In the record cited by Bro. A. Balbach in The History of the Seventh Day Adventist Reform Movement, tremendous growth occurred during those years.
Heaven surely records the blessed influence that faithful men of God have had in inspiring good works among the brethren. John the Revelator declares: “I heard a voice from heaven saying unto me, Write, Blessed are the dead which die in the Lord from henceforth: Yea, saith the Spirit, that they may rest from their labours; and their works do follow them.” Revelation 14:13.
May the Holy Spirit comfort the hearts of the precious members of the extended Tomoiaga family. They were able to spend a beautiful family reunion together with him in August of this year. May holy angels tenderly watch over the resting place of our faithful minister—that at the special resurrection, he may arise in newness of life for eternity!
